ALFRED, NY – Alfred University men's tennis team members Ricardo Alvarez Janik (La Orotava, Spain) and Anlun Zwerver (Koog Aan De Zaan, The Netherlands/Blaise Pascal College) were named the Empire 8 Doubles Team of the Week on Monday.
 
The duo garners the first weekly honors of the season for the Saxons and the first ever doubles weekly award in program history.
 
Janik and Zwerver played doubles for the first time as a pair during AU's spring break trip. The pair competed against tougher opponents throughout the week. Janik and Zwerver lost their first match of spring break to Penn State Harrisburg by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday. The pair later won the remaining three of their matches. Janik and Zwerver swept their matches against Curry (Wednesday) and Franciscan (Thursday), 6-0. The pair wrapped up spring break with a 6-3 victory against Muhlenberg on Friday, helping the Saxons claim the doubles point.
 
Janik and Zwerver joined in the E8 Weekly Awards by Kyle Miller (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) as the Baseball Pitcher of the Week and Cole Loewke (Hilton, NY/Hilton) as the Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week.
