Women’s Volleyball Promotes Rachel Blew to Assistant Coach

The Alfred University Women's Volleyball team announced the promotion of Rachel Blew to assistant coach prior to the 2025 season.

She has been a part of the Saxons as a volunteer assistant coach since 2023.

"I am excited to continue working with Rachel", Head Coach Mike Honeycutt said. "She has been a part of this program for the last two years and now she steps into the assistant coach role with two years of experience with AUVB. The team is very comfortable with Rachel and that is why it was an easy decision to promote her."

Before arriving at AU, Blew spent time as head coach for volleyball, track & field and tennis at Houghton Academy.

In 2017, she served as the Assistant General Manager and the Coordinator of Sponsorship Services for the Genesee Rapids baseball team. She oversaw the day-to-day operations while bringing in sponsors.

"Working with the Alfred University women's volleyball team for the past two years has been more than a job to me," Blew said. "It has given me another family that I didn't know I needed. I have enjoyed watching the athletes work hard day in and day out, supporting one another not just on the court but also off the court. I am looking forward to this third year of working alongside coaches and athletes who are determined, energetic and have a passion for the sport. I would also like to thank Mike for giving me this opportunity to continue working with AUVB and contributing to the strong program he is building."

A native of Houghton, NY, Blew earned a Bachelor's Degree in Art and Photography from Houghton University in 2011. She graduated with a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration and Coaching from Concordia University Irvine in 2018.
