Box Score 2 CLINTON, NY – The Alfred University softball team ended its regular season on Friday evening at Hamilton College, facing Empire 8 opponent, SUNY Poly.
The Saxons (28-9, 18-4 Empire 8) defeated the Wildcats (18-15, 12-10 Empire 8) in six innings in game one, 12-1 behind six runs being scored in the top of the sixth. They completed the sweep in five innings in the nightcap, 11-3.
Jessica Remm (Carmel, IN/Carmel) broke the Alfred University school record for most RBI in a single season, surpassing Hall of Famer,
Jesika LeBarron '10 and her mark of 54. She had 52 going into the final game of the regular season.
Paris Guzman (Santa Fe Springs, CA/Santa Fe) went 2-for-2 in the first game with four RBI while
Molly Whitmyer (Enola, PA/Trinity) tacked on three RBI on her 2-for-2 performance. Whitmyer crossed home plate three times while Guzman scored twice.
Kendall Steward (Kennedy, NY/Randolph) retired six batters in her 19
th win of the year inside of the pitcher's circle while only giving up three hits and the one earned run.
The first game was essentially won in the top of the second inning when Whitmyer hit a two-run home run to score
Meghan Neto (Miami, FL/Doral Academy Charter). Poly scored its only run in the bottom of the inning on a sacrificed fly.
AU went on to score four runs in the top of the third inning and then another six in the top of the six, out-hitting the Wildcats, 12-3.

The Saxons will next turn their attention to the Empire 8 Softball Championships as they have cemented themselves as the No. 2 seed.
