ROCHESTER, NY -- The Alfred University men's tennis team took a quick detour out of Empire 8 conference play to visit the University of Rochester. They would be defeated 6-0 on Friday night.
"They were a good team and played like it," Head Coach Jake Fisler said. "This was a great learning lesson for our guys and we are looking forward to conference play tomorrow."
Bill Tran (Hanoi, Vietnam/Grace Christian) led the way for the Saxons. He helped AU get a point in his doubles match with Matthew Bittel (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville). Tran also notched two wins in the first set of his singles match, while Bittel got one in his singles match.
Breece Erickson (Goshen, IN/Bethany Christian) also competed with Jeffery Merejo (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) in their doubles match. Erickson also got a win in the second set of his singles match.
AU will have a quick turnaround back in Rochester back in Empire 8 play against St. John Fisher University. They'll get underway on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
