Box Score HILTON HEAD, SC – The Alfred University women's tennis team played its final match of spring break, falling to Saint Mary's College of Maryland by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.

Alina Zabihailo got her 50
th career victory. As we went into singles, each match was extremely close and the women supported each other for every fight.
Becca Epping had a huge win at No. 3 singles which just encapsulated the work she has put into the offseason. I was pleased with the effort of the team and am excited for the future."
The Saxons started the match with a 1-0 lead after clinching the doubles point.
Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) and
Elizabeth Madsen (Portland, OR/Grant) competed in the No. 1 position where they won the tiebreaker, 7-4. Zabihailo registered the 50
th victory of her career.
Claire Lander (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and
Averill Holland (Linwood, KS/Basehor-Lindwood) posted a 7-5 victory at the No. 3 position to clinch the doubles point for Alfred University.
The Seahawks won the first two singles which tied the match at two-all.
Becca Epping (Mitchell, IN/Bedford North Lawrence) broke the tie at the No. 3 position, registering scores of 6-3 and 7-5. The score was 3-2 in favor of the Saxons.
Unfortunately, that was as far as Alfred University would get as Saint Mary's College of Maryland took wins in the rest of singles that put the match out of reach.
