AUBURNDALE, FL -- The Alfred University baseball team played its sixth game of the season under the Florida sun against Lakeland University from Wisconsin.
AU put their first runs on the board in the third inning from
Nolan Pridmore (Toronto, ON, Canada/Etobicoke Collegiate Institute). He blooped a single into center field to drive home
Benjamin Croote (Middleburgh, NY/Middleburgh).
Angelo DeFilippis (Staten Island, NY/Moore Catholic) brought in another with his own single to left field. It came in the sixth inning with
Reyes Torres III (Port Jervis, NY/Port Jervis) coming home.
The Saxons tacked on three more in the bottom of the seventh. Croote reached on an error which allowed
Tyler Mulholland (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) to score from third. Croote followed suit by stealing second and forcing yet another error. This brought Torres III into home plate for the fifth and final run of the game for AU.
Just two more sets of doubleheaders remain for Alfred University before returning to New York to begin league play. Saturday's doubleheader will come against Martin Luther College at 3:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
