CANANDAIGUA, NY -- The Alfred University women's alpine skiing team wrapped up its season at Bristol Mountain in regional competition.
"All season long the only thing we have focused on is the process, personal improvement and growth," Head Coach
Bob Cilino '13 said. "The evidence is very clear that everyone has come a long way this year. We are looking forward to growing our roster more in the next few years and fielding larger teams and these athletes who are returning next year will have a lot of momentum behind them."
Zoe Rainville (Saranac, NY/Saranac) and
Sophia Lazarenko (Buffalo, NY/Park School of Buffalo) were the two participants throughout the weekend. While Rainville didn't finish Saturday's giant slalom course, she recovered on Sunday during the slalom with a fast total time of 2:07.42.
Lazarenko would finish both weekends races, clocking in on Saturday with a 3:16.37 in the giant slalom, and a 3:01.55 on Sunday's slalom course. It concluded her first season as a part of the Saxons skiing program. The two propelled AU over Ithaca College and RPI on Sunday to finish ninth overall.
The team will head to the slopes for some enjoyment before the snow melts away, before preparing off the mountain for next winter's skiing season.
