ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Jack Bestpitch (Buffalo, NY/St. Mary's of Lancaster) was named an Empire 8 Football Co-Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.
 
Bestpitch led both the AU defense and special teams units in their first-ever matchup at Alfred State College. In the third quarter, Bestpitch blocked a PAT attempt from Alfred State and returned it 92 yards for a two-point conversion. Early in the following quarter with Alfred University trailing, the junior returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and the lead. Bestpitch was credited with five tackles, one of which was for a loss of one yard.
 
Bestpitch shared the accolade with Noah Currier of Alfred State who returned a kickoff for a 97-yard touchdown in the second quarter.
 
Bestpitch was joined in the Empire 8 Weekly Awards by Andre Ayala (Mexico City, Mexico/Preparatoria No°5) as a Men's Swimming & Diving Co-Swimmer of the Week on Monday.
