ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team dropped its final regular season road match to Nazareth University, 3-2, on Friday.
The Saxons (12-16, 4-6 Empire 8) lost the first two sets by scores of 22-25 and 13-25. AUVB came back to tie the match with 25-18 in the third set and 25-21 in the fourth. Unfortunately, the Golden Flyers (3-22, 3-7 Empire 8) took the fifth set, 15-12, to close out the match.
Carleigh Santavy (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern) led AUVB with a career-high 23.0 points on a career-high 21 kills and three blocks while notching seven digs.
Taylor Malone (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) added 19.5 points on 19 kills and one block assist. She also added a season-high 15 digs to her stat line.
Delaney Sims (Bogart, GA/George Walton Academy) registered 37 assists and 12 digs for her 13th double-double of the season. She also scored 8.0 points on six kills, two block assists and one service ace.
Madalynn McGowan (Corona, CA/Corona) tallied a game-high 20 digs and a career-high six assists.
The Saxons wrap up the regular season with Senior Day against St. John Fisher University on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
