Brockport, NY -- The Alfred University Men's Cross Country team ran home to an eighth place finish worth 205 points on Saturday afternoon at SUNY Brockport.
"Several of our athletes made great improvements over their times from a week ago," Head Coach
Matt Phillips said. "We improved our time spread from 1:25 to 35 seconds today; this shows that the work they are putting in each day at pracice is already paying off."
Senior
Yuner Sesmas (Apollo, PA/Kiska Area) led the way for the Saxons, finishing 60th overall with a time of 18:04.8. The nexrt six Saxons all finished within 45 seconds behind Sesmas. Trailing just over a half second later was
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) at 18:05.4 and then
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca), crossing the line at 18:14.8.
Alfred's young runners rounded up the rest of the points, with
Garrett Farbaraugh (Abington, PA/Abington Senior) ahead of
JJ Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West), then
Aidan Bieron (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West), and wrapped up by
Damian Brown (Homer, NY/Homer). They finished with respective times of 18:25.8, 18:39.8, 18:49.3, and 19:29.5.
The season runs on for the Saxons after a couple weeks of rest at Roberts Wesleyan University on September 28 starting at 10 am.
