ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's cross country team finished 13
th out of 17 teams at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational on Saturday morning, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University.
The Saxons were led by
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) who clocked a time of 27:40.4 during the 8K race. He finished 96
th overall and scored 52 points.
Seth Stevens (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) and
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca) joined Dean in the sub-29-minute club. Stevens ran a 28:11.2 and Taylor finished with a time of 28:30.4.
Damian Brown (Homer, NY/Homer) crossed the line with a time of 30:59.6 while
Evan Foran (Vestal, NY/Vestal) rounded out the top-five with a time of 31:03.6.
"After a tough week of workouts, the men worked together throughout the race," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "We had several groups that were hitting their paces and pushing each other. The team ran an average of 29:17, which is faster than last year."
Aidan Bieron (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore West) and
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) finished shortly after Foran, less than 10 seconds apart from each other, crossing the line with times of 32:05.9 and 32:15.2, respectively.
The Saxons will next compete at Houghton University on Saturday, October 11.
