ROCHESTER, NY -- Alfred University's Men's Cross Country team returned to action for the first time since September 8 at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
"I couldn't be prouder of our athletes today," Head Coach
Matt Phillips said. "It wasn't about the outcome, but the effort and strategy they brought into the race."
The Saxons competed against 25 other teams in Rochester Saturday morning, finishing with a spread of 1:35.2 and an average time of 29:25.4 in this 8K race. Leading the way was sophomore
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca) with a time of 28:55.3, finishing up 198th overall.
Max Rasilla (Moraga, CA/Midland) followed up Taylor second for the Saxons at 29:01.1, one of three Alfred University runners to finish at the 29 minute mark.
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) and
Yuner Semsas (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) crossed the line practically at the same time, 29:19.0 and 29:20.9 respectively. Wrapping up the top five point-getters for the Saxons was
Garrett Farabaugh (Abington, PA/Abington Senior) at 30:30.5.
The season runs on, with a trip to Fredonia next up on Saturday, October 5 starting at 10 am.
