ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) was named the Empire 8 Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
 
She is now one of 18 Saxons who have earned Empire 8 Weekly Honors five or more times throughout their career and the first women's soccer player who earned them in soccer, joining Danielle Perry '19 who has five honors from track & field.
 
Barnard-Pratt led a Saxon defense that snapped a 23-game losing streak to the Bombers of Ithaca College as Tuesday's road game ended in a 0-0 tie with the No. 2 team in the region. The Saxons still have not relinquished a goal to an opposing soccer player (gave up one own-goal) as they have played in six matches. On Tuesday, Ithaca fired off 31 shots with 14 on goal, all 14 being stopped by Barnard-Pratt.
 
Barnard-Pratt was named a Saxon of the Week on Monday, being joined by western equestrian's Keira Hanschman (Chicago, IL/Cary-Grove Community).
