Alfred University Athletics Appoints Fisler as Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach

ALFRED, NY – Alfred University Athletics has announced the appointment of Jake Fisler as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Jake Fisler to lead our women's and men's tennis programs," Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator Erin Schurr said. "Jake's professionalism and passion for the mentorship of our student-athletes stood out the most during the interview process. His diverse experience in the tennis world and his knowledge of our conference will prove to be an asset to both programs."

For the past five years, Fisler has worked as the Assistant Junior Director at the Midtown Athletic Club. His core responsibilities included overseeing day-to-day operations, running group and individual lessons, and executing select tournaments in the Greater Rochester Area.

"I am looking forward to continuing the success of both programs and to build on all that the previous coaches have accomplished at Alfred University," Fisler said. "I share the same passion as the University regarding a holistic approach to athletics. Investing in people, not just as tennis players, is a core belief of mine and I am excited to put this into practice at Alfred University. I am honored to have been chosen to help these student-athletes accomplish their goals and can't wait to get out on court!"

Fisler is familiar with the Empire 8 conference, having competed with Houghton University as a member of the men's tennis program from 2016-21. During his time with the Highlanders, Fisler was an All-Empire 8 and All-American talent. Competing towards the top of the lineup in doubles and singles action during his fifth-year season, Fisler and Houghton secured the 2020-21 Empire 8 Championship. While attending Houghton, Fisler served as a student assistant coach for the women's tennis program during the 2019-20 season. That season, the Highlanders clinched their first-ever program appearance in the Empire 8 Tournament.

Fisler graduated with his bachelor's degree in sport, recreation and wellness management with minors in athletic administration and sport management.
