ALFRED, NY - Alfred University Athletics has announced the appointment of Kat Evans as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

Evans joins the Saxons after earning her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Houghton University before completing her master's degree in Athletic Training from Liberty University.

"I graduated from Houghton University with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and then went on to Liberty University for my master's in Athletic Training," Evans said. "I'm originally from Hornell, but moved away three years ago for graduate school. I have previously worked as an athletic trainer at a construction site and at a high school. I am excited to be back in my home state and thrilled to begin my new position at Alfred University!"

Prior to joining Alfred University, Evans served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Staunton River Middle/High School in Virginia. She also worked as a Health and Wellness Specialist with Athletic Training Solutions in Danville, Virginia.

"We are very excited to have Kat join us," Head Athletic Trainer and NCAA Athletics Healthcare Administrator Ronald Demchak said. "Kat came highly recommended and is from the area, so this was a great opportunity for us to add a talented athletic trainer to our staff. We are excited to see what Kat can contribute to our staff of five with her experience in the industrial setting and clinical experiences working with sports such as ice hockey, field hockey and non-traditional sports like rodeo."

While pursuing her master's degree at Liberty University, Evans gained additional experience as an Athletic Training Student, working primarily with the university's Division I club ice hockey program. She also worked alongside rodeo athletes as part of the Southeastern Extreme Bull Riders Association (SEBRA) National Finals.

Evans brings a diverse range of clinical and professional experience to the Alfred University athletic training staff as she returns to her home state of New York.
