CORTLAND, NY – The Alfred University baseball team concluded their weekend with a 31-3 loss to Russell Sage College on Sunday.
Owen Jennings (Newcastle, ON, Canada/St. Stephen's Secondary) started on the mound for the Saxons, striking out five batters across four innings.
The first run for Alfred University came in the fourth inning, as a sacrifice fly from
Dylan Guthrie (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond) drove in
Benjamin Weimer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park). In the following inning, an RBI single for
Nolan Pridmore (Toronto, ON, Canada Etobicoke Collegiate Institute) brought in
Tyler Mulholland (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township). Later in the inning, a fielder's choice from
Cameron Brought (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area) allowed
Jeff Petrozzini (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley) to score.
Russell Sage scored in each of the first six innings before the game was called following the end of the seventh inning.
Alfred University will next visit Fredonia for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
