ALFRED, NY – Consistent scoring from SUNY Geneseo led to a 15-4 win over the Alfred University men's lacrosse team on Wednesday from Yunevich Stadium.
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) led Alfred University with two goals.
Kevin Matson (Chenango Bridge, NY/Chenango Forks) and
Marcus Darminio (Marcellus, NY/Marcellus) each added one goal for AU.
The Knights were the first to get on the scoreboard in the first quarter, but an assist from
Max Freeman IV (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) to Darminio quickly equalized the game for the Saxons. SUNY Geneseo responded with four consecutive goals to carry a 5-1 lead into the second quarter. Alfred University found some momentum early in the second quarter, relying on goals from Felenchak and Matson to cut the deficit. The Knights once again answered, scoring five goals of their own before taking a 10-3 lead into the break.
The lone goal for the Saxons in the second half came in the fourth quarter, as an assist from
Peter Colburn (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) to Matson, which marked the final goal of the game.
Alfred University will next host Allegheny College on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
