HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team picked up their first win of the season in dominant fashion by defeating SUNY Delhi 9-0 on Saturday afternoon.

In doubles action, Mike Roberts (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) and Nick Flemmer (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) won their match by a score of 8-1 from the No. 1 spot. Walker Waldon (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) and Breece Erickson (Goshen, IN/Bethany Christian) won from No.2 Doubles by a score of 8-0.

In singles play, Roberts took care of business from the No.1 spot in two sets. Matthew Bittel (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) also won in two sets from the No.4 spot in singles. Bill Tran (Hanoi, Vietnam/Grace Christian) won in two sets from the No.6 spot as well.

The Saxons were flawless as a team on the day as they didn't drop a set in either doubles or singles play. 

Alfred University will next play at home against Lycoming College on Thursday, March 21st at 4:00 PM.
