ALFRED, NY - The Alfred University men's basketball team continued their season with a 113-66 loss to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday night.
Amoi Charles (Elmont, NY/H. Frank Carey) led Alfred University with a team-high 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Zion Baitey (Morrisville, NJ/Morrisville) finished the game with 13 points and six boards.
Kenneth Allison Jr (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) added 12 points for AU.
"Not a performance tonight that shows what we're about as a program," Head Coach
Erich Kaempffe said. "We're going to get back to work and attack tomorrow to the best of our ability. I love the players in our locker room and what kind of people they are and I have full confidence we will respond the right way moving forward."
A three-point shot by Baitey gave AU the initial lead in the opening half. A 17-0 run by the Panthers forced the Saxons to play from behind. Alfred University responded with an 11-0 run of their own in which four different players recorded points.
Andria Siamashvili (Belgrade, Serbia/Rabun Gap Cacoochee School) recorded his first collegiate points towards the end of the first half, but AU trailed 54-33 going into halftime. Pitt-Bradford relied on a 7-0 run to begin the second half to extend their lead. Alfred University had seven different players score in the second half, but consistent scoring efforts by the Panthers were enough to close out the game with a win.
Alfred University will next host Hilbert College on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
