PITTSFORD, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team ended its regular season with a four-set loss at St. John Fisher University on Saturday and will enter the Empire 8 Playoffs as the No. 5 seed.
The Saxons (15-8, 7-4 Empire 8) were defeated by the Cardinals (16-8, 9-2 Empire 8) 15-25, 14-25, 25-22, 21-25 on Saturday.
Carleigh Santavy (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern) led a Saxon offense that only totaled nine errors on 97 attacks. She had 10 kills on 26 of those attempts with only one error for a percentage of .346, totaling 11.0 points by adding two block assists.
Abigail Omelan (Tomball, TX/Tomball Memorial) also hit over .300 as she had a team-high .353 with seven kills on 17 attempts and one error.
Cara Bratthauar (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg Area) added 8.5 points on six kills, one ace, one solo block and one assisted block.
Delaney Sims (Bogart, GA/George Walton Academy) had 28 set assists and also led in digs with eight.
The Saxons will next turn their attention towards preparations for the Empire 8 Championship Playoffs as they will travel to the No. 4 seeded Houghton University Highlanders on Tuesday, November 12.
