FREDONIA, NY – The Alfred University men's cross country team appeared at the NCAA Division III Niagara Regionals on Saturday, with multiple Saxons wrapping up a successful season.
"We had a great close to the season today, the team has put in a lot of hard work and today was no different," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "They have done an amazing job, and I'm very proud of what has been accomplished. Next up is a bit of rest before they set their sights on our indoor track and field season. Our first competition is December 6, which is only a few weeks away!"
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) led all Alfred University student-athletes with a time of 28:57.90, placing 118th overall. A trio of Saxons finished less than a minute later, including
Max Rasilla (Moraga, CA/Midland),
Yuner Sesmas (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) and
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca). All three Saxons finished within two seconds of each other.
Damian Brown (Homer, NY/Homer) rounded out those who placed for AU on Saturday, as the Saxons now look ahead to the indoor track & field season.
On the women's side,
McKenzie Hall finished with a time of 25:03.90, while
Alivia Kocan timed in at 26:07.01.
