Tristen Briggs Joins AU Athletics as Assistant Athletic Trainer

ALFRED, NY – Alfred University Athletics welcomes Tristen Briggs following his hiring as a new Assistant Athletic Trainer. Briggs will start for the Saxons prior to the 2023-24 season.

Most recently, Briggs worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the University of South Carolina during the 2022-23 season. With the Gamecocks, Briggs served as the primary athletic trainer for the women's cross-country team. Briggs worked alongside over 100 student-athletes and was a part of the athletic training staff during the 2022 SEC Championships and NCAA Regional Championships.

"I am super excited to be a part of the Alfred University family," Briggs said. "After being a graduate student and getting my master's degree for the past two years in South Carolina, I am so happy to finally begin working back in the beautiful state of New York. Being a prior student-athlete at SUNY Brockport, I used to play against Alfred University in soccer, and they were always polite people. Now, as a certified athletic trainer, I'm looking forward to being a part of the athletic training staff and improving the student experience through patient-centered care and collaboration. Go Saxons!"

Prior to South Carolina, Briggs was a Head Athletic Trainer at the Camden Military Academy in Camden, South Carolina from 2021-22. Briggs provided care to over 300 cadets and focused on a variety of athletic programs.

Briggs began his professional career with SUNY Brockport, working as an Athletic Training student from 2019-21. With the Golden Eagles, Briggs worked alongside the football, women's tennis, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's indoor and outdoor track & field, men's lacrosse, field hockey, gymnastics, men's ice hockey, wrestling and softball teams.

Briggs graduated with his bachelor's degree in athletic training from SUNY Brockport in May of 2021. Two years later, he earned his master's degree in advanced athletic training from the University of South Carolina.

"I am excited to welcome Tristen back to New York after his time down south," Head Athletic Director and Athletics Title IX Deputy Coordinator, Ronald Demchak said. "He will bring value to our staff with his experience at multiple levels of sport including Division I and Division III. His personality really stood out to me during the interview process as someone who values hard work and teamwork."

Briggs is additionally certified in Basic Life Support through the American Red Cross and the Graston Technique.
