ALFRED, NY – Four members of the Alfred University women's tennis team were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as 2023 Division III Scholar Athletes. Alfred University was additionally listed as a 2022-23 All-Academic Team.
 
The four representatives for Alfred University are Alexis Giordano (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter), Anna Gwozdz (South Wales, NY/Iroquois), Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) and Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143).
 
"I couldn't be more proud of our team for achieving this great academic honor," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "We had a great year last year on the courts and it's even better to see how well we performed in the classroom. Congrats also to Anna, Alexis, Macy, and Alina for achieving Scholar Athlete honors as well. I'm excited to see how our team tops this in the 2023-24 academic year!"
 
To qualify as an All-Academic Team, the cumulative grade point average must be 3.20 or above with all varsity letter-winners being factored in for the current academic year. To qualify as a Scholar Athlete, each student-athlete must have been a varsity letter-winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters anytime between their first and senior years.
