Box Score HILTON HEAD, SC - The Alfred University women's tennis team continued their 2022-23 season with a 6-3 win over Mary Baldwin University on Tuesday evening. 

The Saxons relied on Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) and Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) to win 8-4 from No. 1 doubles. Zabihailo later won from No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-2, while Youngberg won 6-1, 6-0 from No. 3 singles. Alexis Giordano (Lewison, NY/Lewiston Porter) paired alongside Anna Gwozdz (South Wales, NY/Iroquouis) for an 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles. Gowzdz picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles, with Giordano winning 8-5 in No. 4 singles. 

"I'm so proud of our effort tonight," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "I'm especially proud of Alexis tonight. There were so many close matches all around and we have enough grit to come out on top. We got to shake off the rust tonight against a strong Mary Baldwin squad. I'm so excited to get a great win."

Alfred University will next face Johnson & Wales on Wednesday at 3:30 PM.
