HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team was defeated by Houghton University by a score of 9-0 on Friday afternoon at Kerr-Pegula Field House.

Mike Roberts (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) and Bill Tran (Hanoi, Vietnam/Grace Christian) picked up a point from the No. 2 spot in doubles action. Matthew Bittel (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) scored two points in both of his sets from the No. 2 spot in singles action. Mark Ungurian (Chornomorsk, Ukraine/School #6) also picked up two points in his first respective set from the No.4 spot in singles. 

"Great team effort today. The scores won't show how much we improved today but our team's focus all year long has been to be the hardest working team on the floor. We pride ourselves on how sweaty we end up. Houghton is a great program and they definitely showed some areas of weakness for us. Gotta rest and recover to get ready for Medaille tomorrow!" Head Coach Jordan Crouch said.

Alfred University will play next at Medaille University on Saturday, April 1st at 5:30 PM.
