ALFRED, NY – Joe Copp (Minoa, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa) of the Alfred University football team secured D3football.com Second Team All-Region honors for the second consecutive season, as announced on Wednesday.
 
Copp was one of 15 football student-athletes in the Empire 8 conference to receive All-Region honors. Throughout his collegiate career, Copp has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on three occasions, most recently on September 26. This past season, Copp was additionally honored as a member of the All-Empire 8 First Team for the second straight season.   
 
The senior enjoyed another breakout season with Alfred University, finishing second in the nation with 122 total tackles, 58 of which were solo. Copp additionally recorded 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and a forced fumble for the Saxons. To this point in his career with AU, Copp ranks fourth all-time with 357 career tackles. The 122 tackles for Copp in the 2023 season rank 10^th in program history for a single season. During a competitive road win against Catholic, Copp totaled 19 tackles, marking the seventh-most in program history for a single game.
 
Copp is a four-year member of the Alfred University football program and was named as a team captain prior to the 2023 season for the second consecutive season.
