ALFRED, NY – Alfred University football running back Tommy Nyquist (Warren, PA/Warren Area) was named the Empire 8 Football Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

He received E8 weekly honors for the first time in his career. 
 
Nyquist enjoyed a historic performance with the Saxons on Saturday, totaling 285 rushing yards and four touchdowns across 40 rushing attempts as part of a 34-21 win against SUNY Morrisville. The rushing attempt total for Nyquist set a program record for AU, while the rushing total marked the second-most in a single game in program history. Nyquist was credited with five rushes for 10 or more yards, including a 37-yard rush for the Saxons. As part of the win, Nyquist averaged 7.1 yards per carry for Alfred University. 
 
Nyquist was also named Saxon of the Week with Jaidyn Chest (Mayfield, NY/Mayfield) who was selected as the Empire 8 Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week.
