HAMBURG, NY – The Alfred University men's basketball team ended their three-game road trip with a 79-66 loss to Hilbert College on Tuesday from the Brad Hafner Recreation Center.
The Saxons (2-3, 0-0 Empire 8) had four players score double-digit figures against the Hawks (3-2, 0-0 AMCC) as part of their efforts.
Casey Curran (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) finished the game with a team-high 17 points to go with three rebounds and four assists.
Franlys Valenzuela (Santiago de los Cabelleros, Dominican Republic/San Ysidro) recorded 15 points and six boards.
Adam Enders (Belfast, NY/Belfast) and
Tyler Curran (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) each added 12 points for AU.
"Obviously we're not pleased with the result," Head Coach
Erich Kaempffe said. "We're all looking forward to getting back to work after the break and doing everything we can to keep getting better."
Enders opened scoring for the Saxons in the first half with a shot from three-point territory. The Hawks led for roughly four minutes before a layup from Valenzuela tied the game. Hilbert ended the first half with an 8-1 run before taking a 45-33 lead into halftime. The Hawks maintained their lead by double-digit figures throughout the second half to eventually close out the game and secure the win.
Alfred University will next enjoy the Thanksgiving break before hosting SUNY Brockport on Tuesday, November 28 at 5:30 PM.
