The Saxons relied on an opening 8-0 run to begin the first half of action. Later in the half, back-to-back shots from three-point territory from Enders gave AU their first double-digit advantage of the game. Baskets from
Kenneth Allison Jr (Troy, NY/Lansingbugh) and
Casey Curran had the Saxons leading by as many as 14 points. The Bengals scored late to close out the first half, but a three-point shot from Enders gave Alfred University a 35-26 lead going into halftime.
Buffalo State found shots to begin the second half, tying the game with just over 14 minutes remaining. The Saxons responded with a 9-0 run to take the lead back. The game was tied with roughly three minutes to play, but AU limited Buffalo State to four points in the final three minutes and had their own success from the free throw line to hold on for the win.
Alfred University will next travel to play Hilbert College on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
