ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Mia Spencer (Omaha, NE/Omaha Central) was named the Empire 8 Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon, in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
Spencer won three times on Friday evening in a dominant win over Pitt.-Bradford. She started her evening with a time of 2:24.84 in the 200-yard individual medley, defeating the rest of the pool by almost 10 seconds. She then added a time of 1:06.36 in the 100-yard butterfly and closed out the evening with a relay win. She teamed with Kamila Roman (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck), Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury) and Sarah Anderson (Wayne, PA/Radnor) for a time of 1:46.97.
 
Spencer was joined in the Empire 8 listings by Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) as the Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.
