ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team claimed a dual meet victory over Pitt Bradford on Friday night from the McLane Natatorium.
The Saxons (1-1, 0-0 Empire 8) defeated the Panthers (1-1, 0-0 AMCC) by a score of 160-57 on Friday night.
"This evening, we were able to move a few people around in our lineup this evening and the team clearly had some fun with it." Head Coach Brian Striker '00 said. "It was actually one of our better performances overall in recent years as far as the results that we were seeing from most everyone in different events. I am really excited for this group, they are working very hard and they are pretty focused. I think more importantly to me, they are having some fun doing it!"
The 200-yard medley relay team of William LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne), Wade LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne), Alessandro Lagos Canales(Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) and Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) got things started with a first place finishing time of 1:41.36.
Ryan Way (Penfield, NY/Penfield) won the 1-meter and 3-meter diving with scores of 230.85 (1m) and 236.55 (3m).
Alessandro Lagos Canales picked up the first individual win of the day as he swam a 1:52.63 in the 200-yard freestyle. Emmanuel Drappatz (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel Area) won the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 22.14 and won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:12.88. Terrazas picked up two more wins on the day by winning the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.15 and the 100-yard Butterfly with a time of 56.39.
Fernando Lagos (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) won the 100-yard Freestyle with a time of 49.96. Will LaMastus also won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.18. The final individual win of the day was by Wade LaMastus, who won the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.15.
The Saxons wrapped up their victory with a first place in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay coming in at a time of 1:29.88.
The Saxons will next host Fredonia on Saturday, November 11th at 12:00pm.
