Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Matthew Wedzik

Saxons Come Up Short against Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY – The Alfred University Men's Soccer team lost 7-1 against Buffalo State College in their final non-conference game of the season.

The Saxons were led by Chase Freeland (Hornell, NY/Hornell) who scored a goal for the Saxons. Noam Sokolovsky (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme) added an assist for Alfred. Goalkeeper Robert Mann (Buffalo, NY/Frederick Law Olmsted) recorded four saves and Tyler Mulholland (Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) recorded six saves.

"A tough non-conference matchup away from home, we did not play to the standards we expect of our group." Head Coach Tracy Blake said. "We were able to get a good rotation of our usual starters and get all of our players into the game and see what they brought to the table."

The Saxons conceded four goals within the first 20 minutes of the game and weren't able to overcome the deficit the rest of the way. Alfred University was able to see many players get playing time in tonight's game and will learn from the mistakes they made. This was their final tune up game before finishing the rest of the season with all Empire 8 matches.

"We will build on the positives and improve on the negatives to be ready for a massive Empire 8 match up on Sunday." Head Coach Tracy Blake said. "Good performances from Christian Martinez and Landon Berry today, making differences when they got on the ball."

Alfred University will next return home for an Empire 8 matchup against Russell Sage College. The match is set to kickoff on Sunday, October 15th at 1 PM.
