Max Freeman IV (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) was selected as one of the Empire 8 Football Co-Offensive Players of the Week on Monday in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Freeman rushed for a game-high and career-high 274 yards on 33 attempts (8.3) and two touchdowns during a 31-23 Homecoming win past Kalamazoo College, adding four receptions from the backfield. Freeman scored on runs from the goal line in the first quarter and from a career-high 80 yards in the fourth quarter. His rushing yard total marked the third-most rushing yards in a single game in program history for Alfred University.
Freeman IV was also joined in the Empire 8 listings by
Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second week in a row and
Casey Grange (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) as the Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week. Both Youngberg and Freeman IV were the Saxons of the Week on Monday as well.
Freeman IV and the Saxons will next have their bye week and will return to action on Saturday, October 8 when they take to the road to open Empire 8 play at Hartwick College.
