ERIE, PA – The Alfred University women's cross country team finished third at Penn State Behrend on Friday evening after just over two weeks of no competition.
The Saxons were led by
Mari Jablonski (Monticello, GA/Jasper County) as she earned a medal on Friday, finishing 12
th overall and 10
th in scoring positions. She ran a time of 24:21.9 on Friday. "The women were 15 minutes faster than last year at this course," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "It was nice that Mari earned a medal and everyone ran very well with the overlapping course and it's challenges that it presented. Going forward, as Ivy would say, we look for positive thoughts and negative splits as we look towards great training sessions before we go back to Houghton, in preparation for the E8 Championships to be held there at the end of the season."
McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) took 12
th place with a time of 24:57.6 with
Sarah Lutkins (Union Springs, NY/Union Springs) bringing in a pack of Saxons. Lutkins took 17
th with a time of 26:06.4, followed by
Ivy Vallely (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) in 18
th place, running a 27:15.0 and
Ashley O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley) in 19
th with a 28:09.1.
Sam Arthurs (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass) and
Natayla Ryckman (New Eagle, PA/Ringgold) took 20
th and 21
st with respective times of 29:17.4 and 34:37.4, outside of scoring positions.
The Saxons will next have a few weeks off to train as they look to compete at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, October 1.
