Box Score BROCKPORT, NY - The Alfred University women's tennis team won their fourth consecutive match to start the new season with a 7-2 victory over SUNY Brockport on Tuesday afternoon from the Brockport Tennis Courts.

Jordan Crouch said. "They're a really well-coached team and are always ready to compete. We had to grind out so many matches today and Brockport forced us to really dig deep to come out with some victories. Special props to Abby, Alina, and Anna for getting third set victories."
In doubles,
Macy Youngberg (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central) and
Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) allowed only one point from No. 1 as the Saxons took the early lead.
Anna Gwozdz (South Wales, NY/Iroquois) and
Eve Liu (Yantai, China/Wilbraham and Monson Academy) extended AU's lead with an 8-3 victory from No. 2.
Moving into singles action, Youngberg was the first to score a point for Alfred following a 6-0, 6-2 win from No. 4. Liu played well from No. 2 singles, winning 6-1, 6-1. Zabihailo secured the winning point for AU after enduring a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory from the top spot. Both Gwozdz and
Abigail Call (Rome, NY/Rome Free Academy) earned singles wins to round out the afternoon for the Saxons.
"I can't wait to keep practicing towards Penn State Behrend on Friday and Utica on Saturday!" Crouch said.
Alfred University will next return home to host Penn State Behrend on Friday with matches beginning at 4:00 PM.
