Men's Tennis Grinds Out 5-4 Senior Day Victory Over Utica

ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team celebrated their Senior Day with a 5-4 win over Utica University on Saturday afternoon from the William T. Brown Tennis Courts.

"I'm so happy for our guys, especially Logan and David," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "They have served this program for four years and they deserve a special day like today to celebrate their hard work."

Sam Adu-Tutu (The Bronx, NY/Validus Preparatory Academy) opened scoring for the Saxons (2-11, 1-5 Empire 8) in singles action, winning in 6-3, 6-3 fashion from No. 5. Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean) competed well from No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3. Mike Roberts (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) battled back to win the second and third set from No. 3 to clinch the victory for Alfred University.

"I'm so proud of our guys for grinding out individual wins and setting us up for a massive team win," Crouch said. "I also want to thank all the fans that came and watched today. That was an atmosphere unlike anything we have ever seen here in AU tennis. We truly could not have won this match without all their support. Today is a great day to be a Saxon!"

Alfred University will next face a quick turnaround as they host Houghton College on Tuesday at 4:00 PM.
