ALFRED, NY – Alfred University Athletics is accepting nominations for the Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2022.
 
The Alfred University Athletics Hall of Fame was created in 1973 to honor athletes, coaches, athletic administrators and friends of Alfred University for outstanding achievement, involvement and service to Alfred University athletics. To nominate for the Hall of Fame, click here. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, April 15.

To be considered for induction, a candidate must meet at least one of the following criteria:

a) An alumnus or alumna who participated in varsity athletic competition while pursuing an Alfred University degree and who graduated at least 10 years prior to the year of election.

b) A coach or athletic administrator (alumni or non-alumni) who is at least five years removed from his or her tenure at Alfred University.

c) An alumnus or alumna who enjoyed great athletic success after graduating from Alfred, bringing considerable recognition to the University.

In addition to the traditional Hall of Fame, AU Athletics will also be accepting nominations for the Distinguished Saxon Alumni Award and the Silver Saxon Award. Nominations for both are now open for the 2022 Athletics Hall of Fame Ceremony.

The Distinguished Saxon Alumni Award
The Alfred University Distinguished Saxon Alumni Award was created in 2018 to recognize Alfred University student-athletes for outstanding achievement following their playing career at Alfred University. This award is not necessarily based on athletic achievement, but on the nominees' career success following graduation via leadership, service, advancement, or other similar means. To make a nomination for the Distinguished Saxon Alumni Award, please complete the following form to the best of your ability.

To be considered for the Distinguished Saxon Alumni Award, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

a) An alumnus or alumna who participated in varsity athletic competition while pursuing an Alfred University degree and who graduated at least 10 years prior to the year of election.

b) An alumnus or alumna who has since enjoyed great success after graduating from Alfred, bringing considerable recognition to the University.

The Silver Saxon Award
The Alfred University Athletics Silver Saxon Award was created in 2018 to honor student-athletes from early eras (before 1979) at Alfred University for outstanding athletic achievement, but may lack statistical information that puts nominees at a significant disadvantage when assessing them against contemporary student-athletes. Consideration for the Golden Saxon Award will include conventional aspects of the Hall of Fame selection process with the addition of reference and first-hand accounts of a student-athletes' impact on the field of play. To make a nomination for the Golden Saxon Award, please complete the following form to the best of your ability.

To be considered for induction, a candidate must meet the following criteria:

a) An alumnus or alumna who participated in varsity athletic competition while pursuing an Alfred University degree and who graduated at least 40 years prior to the year of election.

b) An alumnus or alumna who was a significant athletic standout during their era at Alfred, bringing considerable recognition to the University.
