ALFRED, NY – The Empire 8 Athletic Conference named Alyssa Piechota (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) as the Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week on Monday in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.
 
Piechota had back-to-back games where she made more saves than she allowed goals. She set a season-high in saves with 20 against Grove City. She faced 41 shots with 34 of them being on target. Piechota faced 44 shots on Saturday with 16 saves and allowed 13 goals. She also set a season-high in ground balls with 10 against Grove City and added another five on the road at Chatham on Saturday.
 
Piechota was joined on Monday in the Empire 8 listings by men's track & field's Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) as the Men's Track Athlete of the Week, Madison Palmer (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) as the Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Scott Kimiecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) as the Men's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week.
 
Piechota and the Saxons will next host Buffalo State on Tuesday, March 22 at 4pm at Yunevich Stadium.
