WILKES-BARRE, PA – Early scoring for the Alfred University men's lacrosse team resulted in a 16-6 win over King's College on Saturday afternoon.
The Saxons (5-0) picked up 30 ground balls, while the Lions (0-5) were held to 11-for-16 in clear attempts.
Paul Forte (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) led the Saxons with three goals across seven shots.
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY/Hilton) recorded four points from two goals and two assists.
Scott Kimiecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph) finished with nine saves in the victory.

Goals from
Drew Cartwright (Elmira, NY/Elmira) and Forte gave AU an early 2-0 lead in the first quarter. After the Lions scored, the Saxons relied on additional goals from
Kevin Matson (Chenango Bridge, NY/Chenango Forks) and
Josh Hauman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) gave Alfred a 5-1 lead entering the second quarter. The Saxons opened scoring in the second quarter thanks to goals from
Caleb DuBois (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) and Mosher to extend the lead. A goal from King's was answered by consecutive goals from Forte, as AU carried an 8-2 advantage going into halftime.
Matson set the tone for the Saxons offensively in the early moments of the second half, scoring within the first minute of action. A goal from the Lions was retaliated by goals from DuBois, Hauman, Mosher, and
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads). King's scored once more in the third, but Alfred University still led, 13-4. A man-up goal from
Adrian Romero (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) found his first goal of the game in the fourth quarter. Two goals from the Lions were retaliated with consecutive goals from
Jonathan Kay (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) to secure the victory.
"We have to do better on the turnovers and get the first time ground balls," Lockner said.
Alfred University will next return home to face SUNY Geneseo on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
