Kaelan Winkky did an outstanding job. Scott did a great job in goal tonight for us as well, while Kevin has continued to shoot well early in the season."
The Saxons set the tone early in the first quarter, as an assist from
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY/Hilton) to Cartwright opened scoring efforts. Mosher scored moments later to extend the lead for AU. A pass from
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) to Forte found the back of the net, as the Saxons led 3-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Alfred University carried their momentum into the second quarter, as an assist from Matson to Hauman had the Saxons lead 4-0 with 11:48 remaining in the first half. Three straight goals from the Wildcats in the span of five minutes cut AU's advantage to one goal. The Saxons answered with Cartwright's second goal of the game shortly after.
Jonathan Kay (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) dished an assist to Hauman in the final minute of the first half, as Alfred led 6-3 at the break.
The Saxons wasted no time offensively to open the second half, as Matson scored within the first minute of action. Penn found the back of the net moments later, but Matson scored once again to offset the damage. Matson piled on two additional goals for AU, as they led 10-4 with 4:29 remaining in the third quarter. An assist from

A pass from
Adrian Romero (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) to
Noah Soriano (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack) in the early stages of the fourth quarter found the back of the net for AU to distance their lead. The Wildcats scored twice more, but goals from Cartwright and Kay solidified the victory for the Saxons.
"Our guys just need to come ready to play every game," Lockner said. "We got a lot of work to do on our transition, but have a great crew to get it done."
Alfred University will next remain at home to host Lycoming College on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
