ALFRED, NY – Senior forward
Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) of the Alfred University men's basketball team was awarded All-Empire 8 Second Team honors, as the conference announced its 2021-22 Empire 8 Men's Basketball awards on Thursday, February 24.

Erich Kaempffe said. "He is so competitive and refuses to accept losing, which is why he finds so much success. He is a tremendous leader for our team and deserves this recognition. I'm honored to be able to coach Brewster and work with him every day. He is a special person."
During the regular season, Marshall has led the Saxons in points (15.8) and rebounds (9.3) per game, along with blocked shots (37). His 196 total rebounds ranked third in the Empire 8, while his 331 total points were sixth in the conference. This season, Marshall became the 23
rd player in program history to eclipse 500 career rebounds. Marshall finished the regular season with 11 double-double performances, including a career-high 31-point performance against Keuka. This marks the third consecutive season in which Marshall has received All-Conference honors.
Junior forward
Elliot Bowen (Salamanca, NY/Ellicotville) was recognized as Alfred's selection for the Men's Basketball Sportsman of the Year. The Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. Bowen has distinguished himself, consistently exhibiting the critical traits as an outstanding sportsman.
"Elliot is one of the best people I've ever been fortunate enough to be around," Kaempffe said. "He always does the right thing and is a great example of how to play the right way for our young guys."
The Saxons (17-9, 9-7 Empire 8) won four of their final five games in the regular season, claiming the fourth seed in the Empire 8 Championship Tournament. On February 22, the men's basketball team secured a 75-61 victory over Russell Sage to advance to the Empire 8 Tournament Semi-Finals against Utica.
