ROCHESTER, NY - The Alfred University men's tennis team opened their spring season with a 9-0 loss to RIT on Wednesday afternoon from the Gordon Field House. 

"I'm so happy to be competing again with the guys," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "RIT is one of the best teams we'll play all year so it's a tall order to come out and compete with them. I'm happy with how we fought with them until the very end."

Mike Roberts (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) scored a point during the first set from No. 1 in singles play for the Saxons (1-2). The Tigers (4-1) played well in both doubles and singles action to secure the victory. 

"Today we talked a lot about goals and how we learn from playing matches," Crouch said. "We've been discussing how each day is an opportunity for improvement and each match is a chance to get better for the next one. We are back to practice tomorrow to get ready for Behrend on Saturday!"

Alfred University will next travel to play Penn State Behrend on Saturday with matches scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
