ERIE, PA – The Alfred University men's tennis team continued their season with a 9-0 loss to Penn State Behrend on Saturday afternoon from the Westwood Racquet Club.

"Today was a huge step forward for us," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "We've been talking about improving in every match and I saw great stuff in each of our guys today. Michael and David played a great match in doubles and Matt and Evan both improved a ton in their singles matches."

David Lingenfelter (Erie,PA/Harborcreek) and Mike Roberts (Alfred Station, NY/Alfred-Almond) competed from the No. 1 spot in doubles action, as they picked up four points in their respective set. In singles play, Matthew Hibbert (Oswego, NY/Oswego) had a competitive effort from the No. 3 spot, picking up three points in the first set and an additional point in the second set for AU.

"There were some things that we did really well today but there were also some areas we definitely need to improve upon," Crouch said. "I'm excited to get back to practices and work on those so that we're ready to tackle the second half of our season after spring break."

Alfred University will next host Grove City College on Saturday, March 19 with matches scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
