WEBSTER, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team has moved to third place out of the eight teams that have scored team points during day two of the Allegheny Empire Championships held at Webster Aquatics Center on Thursday.
Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) had the highlight of the day as he earned All-Empire 8 Second Team in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing behind Hartwick's
Mikey Schultz with a time of 1:57.51. Terrazas finished fourth overall, just short of the third place time of 1:57.29, to earn 19 team points.
Phillip Volaski (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) finished fifth overall in the event for 18 points with a time of 1:59.03, edging Nazareth's
Marco Salvatore's time of 1:59.23.
Wade LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne) took seventh with a time of 2:01.00.
Colin Schultz (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) swam a 2:02.94 for ninth place.
Justin Jarmer (Flagstaff, AZ/Northland Preparatory Academy) and
Fynn Vossler (Livonia, NY/Livonia) also earned points in the event with a 17
th and 18
th place finish.
Colby Watkins (New Orleans, LA/St. Martin's Episcopal) had another top individual finish for the Saxons as he raced a time of 21.83 for 17 points in the 50-yard freestyle while
Alessandro Lagos Canales (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) earned 14 points with a time of 22.08 for ninth place.
Paul Tuttle () and
Andrew Yates (Naples, NY/Naples) added points as well in the 50-free, with Tuttle taking 14
th place and Yates tying for 19
th.
The Saxons ended the night on a high note with another All-Empire 8 Second Team finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:26.39, just a over a second behind the team from Nazareth. The team was composes of Lagos Canales,
Fernando Lagos (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln), Tuttle and Watkins. The B-team of Yates, Terrazas,
Nathan Sponenberg (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) and LaMastus added 16 points with a time of 1:29.83.
The Saxons will kick off day three of the Allegheny Empire Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday morning for 10:00am preliminary events and 5:00pm finals.
