ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's cross country team finished 23
rd out of 24 teams at the NCAA Division III Niagara Region Championships hosted by University of Rochester on Saturday morning.
The Saxons were led by
Yuner Sesmas (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) in 129
th scoring position with a time of 29:39.6 out of the 172-runner field. The pack-running mentality of AU showed in their next four runners, finishing between 134
th scoring place and 146
th.
"I'm very proud of how our season went this year," Head Coach
Matt Phillips '10 said. "We saw a lot of progression with this young team and they should be very happy with the work they've done and all the miles they've ran this fall. It has been a joy watching them accomplish their goals and seeing their hard work pay off."
George Mecca (Derby, NY/Eden) was the next Saxon to cross the finish line with a time of 29:52.6.
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) ran a 30:16.1 as he passed the most runners out of the Saxons since the 2K mark, jumping ahead by two spots at the end.
Max Rasilla (Moraga, CA/Midland) was just behind Dean with a time of 30:27.2 with
Kevin Flint (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) closing out the scoring group with a time of 30:58.3.
