HOUGHTON, NY- The Alfred University men's tennis team remained competitive in their 4-5 loss to Oswego State on Saturday.Â
"Today was a test for our men's roster," Head Coach
Jordan Crouch said. "Oswego is always a close match for us, and we certainly learned some things about where we can improve moving forward."
Following a sweep from Oswego State in doubles play, the Saxons found their first point thanks to senior
Logan Cross (Olean, NY/Olean), who defeated Anthony Salerno 10-6 from the No. 1 spot. First-year
Mark Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) found his way into the win column after a 10-4 win over Austin Davis from the No. 2 spot. AU inched closer from their early deficit after a 10-2 victory from first-year
Mark Roberts over Raymond Paull at No. 6. The Lakers clinched their winning point after a competitive 10-7 match between Justin Piotrowski and first-year
Walker Waldon from No. 5. Junior
Wes Dennison (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) finished with a 10-8 win over Ethan Bonnaochie to conclude the afternoon.
"Some members of the roster have already come up to me and sid a few things they think we can work on and how they're going to make sure we're more prepared next time," Crouch said. "I'm excited to have a team that is so committed to improvement and can't wait to see where that takes us."
