ALFRED, NY – Graduate Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) earned her 11^th Empire 8 Weekly Award in her storied career on Monday, being named the Softball Pitcher of the Week in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.

Wilcox picked up another two wins this past week including an Empire 8 Tournament win over Elmira College and a regular season finale win over Ithaca College (all three non-conference losses for Ithaca were from Alfred University). Wilcox tacked on another shutout win in the opening round of playoff action with a 2-0 victory as her and the Saxons hosted #6 seeded Elmira on Saturday. Wilcox had 13 strikeouts in that meeting on 89 pitches while only giving up three hits. Earlier in the week, she only gave up two hits to the Bombers with both being singles and one being an RBI single. Wilcox sat Ithaca batters 10 times during the meeting as she is now 14-3 on the year with 208 strikeouts. She even stood to the plate, recording two hits.
 
Wilcox was joined on Monday by women's track & field's Ana Ion (Bucharest, Romania/Episcopal School of Jacksonville) as the Co-Field Athlete of the Week.
 
Wilcox and the Saxons will next take on No. 2 seeded Russell Sage College on Tuesday, May 11 at 1:30pm at St. John Fisher College.
