ALFRED, NY- A total of 10 players scored for the Alfred University men's lacrosse team en route to a 21-2 victory over Elmira College on Saturday night from Yunevich Stadium. The Saxons (5-0, 2-0 Empire 8) picked up 54 ground balls, while the Soaring Eagles (1-4, 0-1 Empire 8) totaled 31 of their own.
Alfred relied on the success of sophomore attack
Paul Forte (Greece, NY/Greece Athena), who totaled four goals to go with one assist. Sophomore attack
Drew Cartwright (Elmira, NY/Elmira) finished with four goals and two assists. Sophomore midfielder
Noah Germano (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) and junior attack
Adrian Romero (Rochester, NY/Greece Arcadia) each finished three goals. GoaliesÂ
Andy Davis (Baldwinsville, NY/Baker),
Scott Kimichecik (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), and
Eddie Rowley (Brockport, NY/Brockport) combined for 11 saves on 24 shots.

The Saxons took control early on, as two passes from Cartwright to Mosher inside the first six minutes of action gave Alfred the early advantage. First-year midfielder
Josh Hauman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) tacked on an additional goal, which was followed by two more goals from Cartwright. The Saxons held on to a 5-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Alfred only needed 34 seconds to find their opening goal in the second quarter, as Forte found the back of the net. A goal from sophomore midfielder
Dawson Felenchak (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) extended the lead. The Saxons managed to add on five more goals, carrying a 12-0 lead at the break.
The second half carried a similar theme, as Forte scored Alfred's opening goal at the 6:35 mark. Goals from junior attack
Noah Soriano (Valley Cottage, NY/Nyack), sophomore midfielder
Alex Nazarczyk (Corning, NY/Corning Painted-Post), and Germano added to Alfred's advantage. The Soaring Eagles scored their first goal at the 1:47 mark in a man-up situation, as the Saxons led by a 16-1 score entering the final quarter.
Elmira scored once more in the fourth quarter, but three goals from Romero secured the victory.
"Our guys know we have the tougher part of our schedule coming up," Lockner said. "They show up to work each day ready to compete. I'm happy with the way we have been performing to this point."
The Saxons will next host Nazareth College on Wednesday at 4pm from Yunevich Stadium.
