ITHACA, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team had multiple impressive performances following the second day of action at the Ithaca Invitational.
Emiliano Terrazas (La Paz, Bolivia/Saint Andrew's) set a career-best time in the 100-yard breaststroke, coming in 5
th with a time of 58.23.
Justin Jarmer (Flagstaff, AZ/Northland Preparatory Academy) also marked his career-best time in the same event, placing 15
th with a time of 1:00.78.
Will LaMastus (Maumee, OH/Anthony Wayne) finished in 7
th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.87.
Paul Tuttle (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) was the next Saxon to finish, as he came in 12
th with a season-best time of 54.00.
Phillip Volaski (Poughaug, NY/Arlington) finished in 21
st with a time of 54.60.
In the 200-yard butterfly,
Fernando Lagos (Teguicgalpa, Honduras/Escuela e Instituo Lincoln) placed 14
th with a time of 2:01.29. He was followed by
Colby Watkins (New Orleans, LA/St. Martin's Episcopal), who came in 21
st with a time of 2:04.38.
Lagos, LaMastus, and Tuttle were joined by
Jordan Fixsen (Fairport, NY/Penfield) in the 800-yard freestyle relay, as the Saxons finished with a time of 7:27.02.
"Today was a pretty good day," Head Coach
Brian Striker said. "As a team, we made moves stemming from solid performances from our IM and stroke. Emiliano and Will had a couple great finishes each for the men. Hard work and adjustments have clearly paid off. With another big session tomorrow, we look to close out the first half of our season on a good note."
Alfred University will next conclude the Ithaca Invitational on Sunday with events scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.
