ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University men's lacrosse team hosted Medaille College in its home opener of the 2020 season on Sunday.
The Saxons (1-1, 0-0 Empire 8) dominated the entire way in the 27-0 victory over the Mavericks.
Cale Donegan (Corning, NY / Corning Painted-Post) had a breakout game to lead AU with six goals and two assists.
Drew Cartwright (Elmira, NY / Elmira) accounted for seven total points, including four goals and three assists.
Jonathan Kay (Webster, NY / Webster Schroeder) scored three goals and assisted on another while
Adrian Romero (Rochester, NY / Greece Arcadia) also netted three.
Paul Forte (Greece, NY / Greece Athena) continued his strong start as a Saxon with two goals and three assists on the afternoon.
Connor DiDomineck (Bath, NY / Haverling) and
Zack Gibaud (Greece, NY / Greece Athena) each scored twice and assisted on one other.
Garrette Briggs (Horseheads, NY / Horseheads) had an efficient performance going 19-20 on faceoffs and adding a goal, two assists and 11 ground balls.
Joey Carra III (Webster, NY / Webster Schroeder) and
Justin Mosher (Hilton, NY / Hilton) both scored one goal and assisted on three others.
Noah Soriano (Nyack, NY / Nyack) and
Alex Nazarczyk (Corning, NY) each finished the day with one goal each.
Shane Weber (Hull, MA / Hull) led the way, defensively, for Alfred with three caused turnovers.
AU will look to ride this momentum into Wednesday as they host Oswego State at 4PM.
